July – Hostile Environment Awareness Training
3-Day HEAT Course (Theory, Field Training, and Full Day Testing Exercise)
This intensive, three-day Hostile Environment Awareness Training (HEAT) course blends modern, adult-learning sessions with hands-on field scenarios.
Day 1 covers Travel Risk Management, Personal Safety, Operational and Information Security (OpSec/InfoSec), Armed Aggressor Response, Targeted Populations Risk Awareness, SOGIESC-based Risk Awareness, Crisis-Point Leadership, Mental Health First Aid, and Pre-hospital Casualty Stabilization theory.
Day 2 combines theory from Day 1 with practical training sessions in Actions-On Direct and Indirect Fire, Explosive Risk Awareness, Comportment at Checkpoints, Situational Awareness, Passenger Emergency Driving Techniques, Escaping Restraints, Introduction to Self Defense, Detention and Kidnap Survival, and Pre-hospital Casualty Stabilization exercises.
Day 3 builds on Days 1 & 2 with a full day of immersive exercise and testing. Participants plan and execute a work trip in a local (training) environment, facing high-pressure scenarios that are designed to test their decision-making, leadership, and operational readiness under stress. Each scenario and simulation includes real-time instructor feedback, facilitated discussions, and debriefs to ensure that the learning objectives are properly met, and retained.
